In the production of crystalline silicon solar modules, structured glass substrates are used instead of uncoated glass.
Structured glass increases the transmittance of sunlight. The optical signals in the vision system triggered by the surface structure—typically used for glass substrates in silicon solar modules—are often similar to or even stronger than those of the actual inspected defect.
Dr. Schenk has developed and manufactured the SolarInspect system, specially designed to accurately distinguish between glass structure and defects on the entire surface of the material, including the edges.
Thanks to an innovative optical setup, Dr. Schenk’s inspection system can clearly identify glass defects and distinguish them from the glass structure.
