The plunge grinding method is used for workpieces with stepped or profiled external surfaces, such as nozzle needles, valves, journal crosses, gearbox and electric motor shafts. Possible technologies include straight or angled plunge grinding, plunge grinding in single or mass production, plunge grinding with multiple operations occurring simultaneously or sequentially, or oscillating plunge grinding.

Through-feed grinding is used for machining non-profiled workpieces, such as cylindrical and tapered rollers, rings, rods, and hydraulic slides. This grinding process is highly productive and is mainly employed for series and mass production of precision components.
