Heraeus Kendro HeraCell 150 CO2 Incubator

Instead of the conventional water pan, the HERAcell features an innovative water reservoir. This design ensures high relative humidity (rH) and, above all, rapid humidity recovery times. Compared to traditional CO2 incubators equipped with water pans, the HERAcell achieves up to five times faster humidity recovery.

Consistent humidity levels
Quick humidity recovery is essential, especially when the incubator door is frequently opened or when small media volumes are processed. In models with water pans, the air layer between the bottom and the water pan increases humidity recovery times, resulting in higher evaporation rates within cultures. In contrast, the HERAcell's advanced technology ensures very short – up to five times faster – humidity recovery times by means of:

• A large water surface (using the entire chamber floor)
• Direct heat transfer from the heated chamber floor to the humidifying water
• Patented floor heating, which activates after door openings and during O2 gassing

Early water level alarm
The water level is continuously monitored, with both acoustic and visual alarms providing timely notification when water needs to be refilled.

ContraCon – Decontamination with moist heat at 90°C

The specially developed and patented automatic ContraCon decontamination routine for Heraeus incubators has been independently tested and proven to completely eliminate a wide range of microorganisms, including mycoplasmas, at 90°C and high humidity.
