Test specimens are clamped between an upper fixed plate and a lower mobile plate.
The mobile plate is driven by a hydraulic hexapod.
The fixed platform is attached to the test structure via a 6-axis force sensor. A linear actuator
allows the distance between the two plates to be adjusted,
enabling a wide variety of test specimens and fixtures to be clamped.

Hydraulic Hexapod:
The hydraulic hexapod consists of 6 hydrostatically mounted hydraulic cylinders.
These have a cross-section of 12.53 cm².
Each cylinder is fitted with two parallel servo valves (38 l/min).
The six cylinders drive the mobile plate via six connecting rods.
The connecting rods are equipped with a hydraulic ball joint at their base. The oil pressure for this
hydrostatic bearing comes directly from the cylinder.
Linear Actuator:
The distance between the upper and lower plates
can be adjusted by means of a linear actuator. The actuator consists of an electric motor,
a gearbox, and a leadscrew system. The linear actuator is fitted with an absolute encoder,
which is mounted on the gearbox input shaft.
Hydraulic Actuator:
The hydraulic cylinders are equipped with magnetostrictive position sensors.
