The MM 500 control is a laboratory device designed for dry, wet, and cryogenic grinding. It is suitable for hard, brittle, soft, elastic, and fibrous materials and is used across a wide range of disciplines—from materials research and pharmaceuticals to geology, food, and environmental analysis.
Samples (up to 10 mm grain size) and grinding balls are placed into the grinding jars. The jars are inserted and positioned on the cooling plates. Oscillating movements of up to 30 Hz reduce the sample size through impact and friction forces.
Optional cooling is possible using various media (LN², water, etc.). Final particle sizes down to 0.1 µm can be achieved. Typical grinding processes last between 30 seconds and 30 minutes.
Grinding balls are available in various materials (steel, stainless steel, tungsten carbide, zirconium oxide) and sizes (available from the manufacturer).
The machine offering includes two 125 ml grinding jars (material as shown in the illustration). 10 mm hardened steel grinding balls are also included.
