This system was designed for the following application:
Diffusion welding machine for producing the connection between armature lead and commutator for starter armatures by means of diffusion welding.

Process description

The workpiece carrier enters the station and is lifted.
The alignment gripper picks up the armature from the carrier and aligns it in the welding position.
The loading gripper takes over the armature and places it in the welding chuck.
The welding chuck moves the armature into the welding position.
Contact and welding cylinders come together and the first weld is performed.
This process repeats until the armature is fully welded.
The welding chuck moves the armature to the transfer position, where the unloading gripper picks up the armature and places it back on the raised carrier.
The workpiece carrier is lowered.
Workpiece carriers with OK armatures continue along the conveyor system; NOK armatures are transferred to the removal conveyor.
On one welding machine, the OK armatures are marked with a color stamp on the face side of the commutators to identify from which welding machine they were produced during the final inspection.
