Explanation for the short operating period:
The complete Cross Wrap bale opener line type BO 4000 was installed in 2015 at a municipal waste incineration plant. The background for the installation was to ensure that in case of a malfunction or during maintenance of the incineration plant, municipal waste could still be received, compacted, wrapped, and stored, until normal operations resumed. Afterwards, all bales could be opened and the waste fed into the standard incineration process.

This worst-case scenario never occurred. The system was installed, commissioned, and has never been used in regular operation since. Only during the commissioning and initial trial runs in 2015 were 674 bales opened over a period of three days. The system is in excellent, immediately operational condition. Due to reconstruction work at the incineration plant, the installation site of the bale opener was required for other purposes. Therefore, the complete line is now available for sale.

Brief description of the bale opening process:
Pressed bales are placed onto the feed conveyor from the side or from behind using a forklift truck. For opening, the bales must be positioned so that the wire or twine strapping runs horizontally to the conveyor; otherwise, the bales must be rotated by 90°. The infeed conveyor advances one bale at a time to the cutting unit. The gripper holds the wires or twine strapping firmly. The rotating knife cuts the bale longitudinally. Afterwards, the gripper returns to its home position. The opened bale is then conveyed to the discharge chute and falls onto the downstream conveyor technology.

Remarks:
Original purchase price of the entire system: €296,000. Complete documentation (operating manual, CE declaration, electrical/hydraulic diagrams) is available. The system has been dismantled into shipping units, placed in storage, and is available at short notice for inspection and loading.
