The tooth rounding is achieved by a combination of the cutter shifting movement and the continuous rotary motion of the workpiece. The alternate movement of the cutter is controlled by the rotation of a cam, which is shaped to create either a radius or a chamfer. A series of 4 cams allows machining within the module range from 1 to 16 (inclusive). An adjustment device enables changing between the minimum and maximum module value for each cam. The rotation of the workpiece is controlled by a three-stage gear unit, which forms the indexing system. The workpiece lock and the rapid approach of the cutter to the workpiece are controlled by pneumatic servo devices. The practicality and speed of the equipment, along with the extensive selection of profiles available on the cams and the ability to process internal gears, make the machine a universal solution suitable for both small and large batch production.
