Our twin-screw Reitruder technology processes high levels of additives and fillers. Instead of using pre-compounded material, fillers such as calcium carbonate or talcum are continuously incorporated. At the same time, the direct extrusion process reduces energy costs in comparison to two-stage compounding: without the need for intermediate solidification and re-melting of the polymer, production runs from raw to finished product in one step with the Reitruder.

EXTRUSION
Among other new developments, the co-rotating twin-screw extruder Reitruder RZE 85 was the highlight of Reifenhäuser’s presentation at the NPE. A differentiated concept with new design elements was developed. The screw geometry was adapted to new requirements with deeper channel depth and a newly designed feed section. These measures improve the feed performance when processing PET flakes or regrind and increase the volume for dosing fillers. This results in significant benefits when processing lower-quality raw materials. Plus, improved venting efficiency allows the processing of material with moisture content up to 0.5 percent, minimizing the need for pre-drying.
