Skinetta ASK 450 Band Tensioning Machine

Machine Application

The Skinetta series band tensioning machines are designed to tightly band (wrap) individual products or multiple products with polyethylene film. Unlike shrink wrapping machines, the wrap film is pulled tightly around the package before sealing. This tautness is the main advantage of the process, resulting in up to 20% reduced film consumption.

A particular benefit of the patented Skinetta band tensioning system is the infinitely variable, fine adjustability.

Sealing (welding) of the film takes place in a very confined space, resulting in a clean sealing seam with minimal projections. By adding a SKINETTAther or SKINETTAshrink heat tunnel and using appropriately wider film, the film overlap extending beyond the pack can be shrunk to the sides. This process further stabilizes the package, preventing individual items from slipping out of grouped packages. Full closure of the package (by sealing, end sealing, and side folding) is possible with additional accessories.

The Skinetta band tensioning machine program includes 6 basic types for processing film widths from 25 mm to 200, 290, 440, 590, 790, and 1250 mm. To increase output, models with two to four tracks are produced in addition to the single-lane version. For the SK series (semi-automatic), products are grouped by an operator on the machine table. Insertion into the film and the subsequent banding process is triggered either by foot pedal or two-handed control. Later full automation is possible (except for Type SK 200). With the ASK series (fully automatic), the products are automatically fed, grouped, and subsequently banded via suitable added devices. A modular system of feed, grouping, forming, and special units—based on over 20 years of experience—permits adaptation to a wide range of customer requirements using proven standard components.
