Taylor Hobson Talyrond 265 Roundness Measuring Instrument.

Extremely precise, suitable for measuring roundness of lenses, optics, pistons, turbine components, tubes, shafts, as well as eccentricity, e.g., of cams on a camshaft or journals on a crankshaft—features that are certainly interesting for motorsport and tuning companies.

The system was used very little and had only two owners. The first owner, from whom I bought it, was a medical implant company in Hamburg where it was operated in a "medically clean environment"—it is extremely clean and has never been in a dirty machine shop. The year of manufacture is estimated to be between 2002 and 2005.

The Taylor Hobson measuring software is, of course, provided and operates on the included HP computer (no password required).

Accessories included: the original Taylor Hobson desk, computer, monitor, and seven (7!) measuring probes—each of which is costly to purchase. A sample/sample lens (hemisphere) for calibration is also included! The comprehensive user manual is supplied on a USB stick, including all circuit diagrams and function schematics.

The system will be shipped on two Euro pallets via freight forwarding. It is already securely strapped on the pallets. The Talyrond 265 and the desk will be further protected with bubble wrap and stretch film for transport, and the system itself is secured with “shipping screws.”

The measuring system should definitely be set up and commissioned by a Taylor Hobson service technician, who will recalibrate the system on-site—this is highly recommended after several years of non-use. Mistakes can be made during setup and commissioning; for example, several locking screws are installed for transport, and forgetting to remove them can damage the system when starting up.
