The Hosokawa Alpine Ultraplex UPZ is a universal fine impact mill. It is used for pulverizing soft, dry materials. This micronizer is ideal for grinding various coarse products down to fine powder and is suitable for different industries where micronization is required, such as minerals, chemicals, food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, recycling, etc.

This granulator can be used for pre-cutting, crushing, and granulating various materials. It is capable of processing coarse products up to approximately 3 Mohs hardness, achieving final fineness levels ranging from medium to fine with coarse particle sizes d97 between 150 and 850 micrometres (µm), depending on the product, while ensuring minimal energy consumption. The turbo mill offers a broad range of fineness levels thanks to its extensive selection of easily interchangeable grinding tools, such as pin discs, hammer plates, beater plates, or pendulum hammers. Some tools can be operated with a stator and grinding track (liners) or screen, or even a combination of both, to obtain the desired final fineness. This versatility allows the same machine to process a variety of products, from fibrous roots or spices to plastics, granulated chemicals, or minerals. Grinding occurs inside the milling chamber, where the rotor equipped with grinding tools impacts and throws particles against a grinding track or mesh (if installed), reducing their size. The process gas carries the fines to the mill outlet and then to the next process step, typically the filter. Due to the required air volume, only moderate temperature increases are expected during milling compared to other granulation and crushing technologies. The final particle size distribution can be easily adjusted by changing parameters such as the rotor tool speed, grinding tool and liner type, air volume, and feed rate.
