The Uniq series forms the robust foundation of our product range and embodies all the characteristics that have established the Kündig edge sanding machine’s reputation in the market as a durable, versatile precision instrument. A key part of its extremely solid construction is the motor-driven oscillating sanding unit, which features a maximum oscillation range of 90 mm and can be tilted motorized by up to 45°. All standard edge processing tasks can be performed at up to four sanding stations.

Ingenious Design – The Sanding Unit

The heart of all our edge sanders is the sanding unit, which boasts a range of intelligent features. Unlike conventional designs where the sanding belt oscillates by tilting the rollers, our entire sanding unit moves up and down. Both the oscillation stroke and range can be easily set at the push of a button. Thanks to flexible settings and the large oscillation travel, the abrasive belt can be optimally utilized across its full width, without the tedious need to adjust the working table height. The oscillation mechanism is powered by a separate motor.

Tilting the sanding unit is also conveniently controlled via a rotary switch and a dedicated motor. The unit can be tilted between 90° and 45°. Thanks to the ingenious swivel mechanism, full oscillation is maintained at any angle, allowing double-sided sanding—even simultaneously. The different table heights at the front and rear sanding stations ensure the belt is not used at the same height at both stations. The combination of tilting mechanism and different table heights also keeps the gap between the sanding unit and the worktable to a minimum at any tilt angle.

Changing the sanding belt is quick and simple, accomplished in just a few seconds.

The Four Sanding Stations

1. Sanding Station: “Veneer Side”

The front sanding station is designed for precise calibration of workpieces and functions like a jointer planer. The infeed fence can be adjusted using a rotary knob for precise, tenth-of-a-millimeter removal. Importantly, the fence is never tilted— infeed fence, sanding pad, and outfeed fence always remain parallel to each other, preventing the rounding of workpieces. Fine adjustment of the sanding pad for grit compensation or zero setting between fences and pad is possible via a handwheel. The solid worktable on this side is equipped with sliding inserts.

2. Sanding Station: “Solid Wood Side”

This station is ideal for sanding flat, angled, chamfered, or externally rounded workpieces. Here as well, the entire sanding unit oscillates. The belt runs across the full width on a graphite cooling surface. The solid wood side is also equipped with a mitre fence.
