Root Reducer – New (in stock)

Consists of:

1. Tapered Roller Conveyor

System Data:
Log lengths: 2 m to 4.6 m (main length: 2.7 m), extendable up to 8 m (optional at extra cost) Log diameter: 200 mm to 1,100 mm
Wood types: Softwood or hardwood, max. single log weight: 2 tonnes
Throughput: up to 5 pieces/minute, of which up to 2 pieces with root reduction
Operation: single-shift operation

Description:
Tapered roller conveyor for round timber with housing-bearing support (nominal diameter: 60 mm);
External diameter of tapered rollers: 450 mm; Drive chain: roller chain 5/4”;
Built-in 4-arm, hydraulically driven ejector for transfer to the root reducer, steel housing slide bearings; Drive of the tapered roller conveyor via gear motor with intermediate gear and soft start; integrated light barriers (2 units) for log positioning.

2. Root Reducer

Dimensions:

Description:
- 3 powered chain beds, drive chain: roller chain 6/4” with square pushers
- Drive via gear motor
- 2 supporting stands with non-driven rollers (roller bearings)
- Hydraulically pivoting clamping device for top clamping with V-bed
- Drive chain: roller chain 6/4”, drive via gear motor;

- Casing-mounted milling shaft with reversible, exchangeable cutter blocks (4 cutters per cutter block), drive via three-phase motor (drive power: 75 kW; flexible jaw coupling)
- Star-delta operation for drive motor (energy-saving mode for idle run, automatic switching during reduction process)
- Milling shaft length: 1,200 mm, mounted on a pivotably supported, adjustable drive yoke (hydraulic drive)
- 4-arm hydraulic ejector
- Integrated hydraulic power pack (15 kW)
- Integrated log thickness measurement for automatic calculation of milling times (included in control system, item 2); for log lengths under 3.5 m, the support position must be adjusted (shortened reduction length)
Reduction length at log length 2.7 m: 0.7 m, log length 3 m: 0.9 m

3. Control System
- Control cabinets in neutral configuration, equipped with control units for all drives of items 1 and 2
- Power supply: 3x400 VAC; Rittal control cabinet; motor contactors and relays by Siemens
- Freely programmable controller Bernegger & Rainer
- Control cabinets pre-wired and tested
- Spare slots for approx. 5 drives
- Circuit diagrams included
- Signal exchange via potential-free contacts
- Emergency stop system; including required sensors; manual operation possible

Control System Functional Description:
- Automatic reduction mode, for log lengths under 3.5 m, adjustment of the support position (log alignment) required (shortened reduction length)
- Automatic log positioning via the tapered roller conveyor, reduction process must be activated manually (manual reduction initiation)
