Face Milling - Single Part Process - Continuous Method:
- The workpiece and tool (usually Spiron) rotate simultaneously; all teeth are generated in a single operation at the same time.
- The cutter head has several cutter groups (not arranged in a circle).
- Teeth have parallel tooth height.
- Conical tooth top surface.
Single Part Process:
- The workpiece remains stationary while the tool (usually Arcon) rotates and cuts a tooth by plunging into the workpiece.
- Once a tooth is cut, the tool is withdrawn from the tooth. The workpiece indexes by the width of one tooth, and the next tooth is cut, repeating until all teeth are finished.
- The cutter head features all cutters arranged on a circular path.
- Conical tooth height.
- Parallel tooth top surface.
The C28 can do both, gear wheel + pinion.
For the single part process, the C28 must be “prepared”—i.e. direct measuring system + workpiece axis part gear brake + license file for single part production.
