Vacuum Turning Gantry for Panels

The turning unit features two different "automatic" operating modes:

I. Part transfer without rotation
The part is simply shifted laterally, aligned to the zero edge of the machining center, and then indexed further to the CNC machining center (BAZ).

II. Part transfer with rotation
The part is laterally shifted and additionally rotated along its longitudinal axis, then indexed further to the CNC machining center (BAZ).

Every function can also be manually controlled in "manual" mode.

LWH: 1500mm x 1500mm x 12mm

The gantry is equipped with a total of 24 vacuum suction cups, ensuring gentle handling and lifting of elements. Parts are always picked up using vacuum, then either positioned horizontally to the zero line of the machining center or additionally rotated 180° en route before being placed on the zero edge.

Rotation is monitored via absolute encoders; lateral positioning is controlled via adjustable photoelectric sensors. Vacuum is generated by a blower.

The roller table, measuring 8,500 mm x 4,300 mm (W), with a roller diameter of 108 mm, is fitted with material-friendly rubber rings. The drive is powered by a SEW geared motor.

Roller table is controlled via frequency inverter, speed v=45 m/min, fully adjustable.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

The entire area is enclosed by fencing, with the lengthwise area of the system secured by two sliding doors. The doors are equipped with safety interlocks.

The operator panel with 12” touch panel is integrated within the fence area. The installed PLC S7-1500 is programmed to offer three control levels:
• Automatic mode
• Manual mode
• Maintenance mode

Input signals – Infeed side:
- Start roller table
- Rotate yes/no
- Emergency stop for the complete system

Input signals – Outfeed side:
- Start roller table
- Emergency stop for entire system

System output signals:
- Emergency stop for entire system
- Part has entered
