The extra-wide support surface is specifically designed to provide machine stability and deliver consistent precision under all working conditions. There is no need to anchor the machine to the floor. The base forms a large, solid foundation for the moving gantry: the machining unit features a balanced, stable and highly durable support structure, capable of withstanding the highest loads for enhanced performance and greater accuracy. The moving gantry consists of a solid, single-piece, base-mounted frame that runs on high-quality prismatic guideways with recirculating ball shoes. The machining unit is mounted and travels along the Y and Z axes, also on prismatic guides with recirculating ball carriages. The motion of the lower moving unit (X-axis) and the machining unit along the gantry (Y-axis) is achieved via a helical rack and pinion drive, providing increased tooth engagement for greater acceleration and higher X and Y axis speeds. The specially designed helical gearing reduces component wear and ensures quieter operation. The Z-axis is driven by a recirculating ball screw, providing perfect dynamic load balance and withstanding strong acceleration and deceleration forces. The main milling unit is mounted directly onto the Z-axis carriage, ensuring extremely high precision finishing as vibrations are virtually eliminated.
