Description:

The SU 1500 Variant universal spindle lathe is a numerically controlled machine designed for roughing and finishing of shaft and flange components, threading, drilling, taper turning, and various rotationally symmetric surfaces. The machine features a rigid horizontal bed, with the guideways hardened and ground. The mating surfaces on the longitudinal slides are coated with Turcite B slideway material. The SU 1500 Variant lathe is equipped with an automatic cycle control system using a Heidenhain control.

The longitudinal feed drive (Z-axis) is provided via a servo drive directly onto the ball screw. The cross feed (X-axis) is also driven by a servo drive onto the ball screw. Both feeds are measured using encoders mounted on the servo motors. The machine can be operated in either manual or CNC-controlled mode.
