Feeding the pieces initiates the machining cycle. The first machine evens up the ends of the package and then cuts the finger-joint pattern. The package then moves to the table of the second machine, where the opposite side is machined and glue is applied. Elements from the DFC-60 D tenoner are transported via a chain conveyor to the preliminary tenoning unit, where a set of rollers and a pressure device apply initial pressure to the finger-joint profile on the scantlings prior to entering the press. The pre-tenoned scantlings are conveyed onto the press table; once the target length is achieved, they are cut. Then, using a pusher bar and clamping strip, they are transferred into the press bed area for pressing. The glued and pressed, finished slat is pushed onto the press's outfeed table.
